Frequently Asked Questions about:

What kind of services do you provide in skilled nursing?

We offer a wide range of medical and rehabilitative services which include, but are not limited to: dementia/Alzheimer care, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, wound care, rehabilitation services (physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy), restorative care, Hospice and respite care to name a few. The only level of care in which we cannot accommodate at the Care Center are those residents on or in need of a ventilator.

Do you accept Medicare?

Yes, We do. After a lengthy process involving staff training and plant improvements we have surpassed the requirements and are now accepting Medicare.

Do you accept Medicaid?

No, we do not.  However, we do work with the family on reimbursement programs through their supplemental and Long-Term Care insurance. We are continuing to look into some limited Medicaid beds in the future.

Do you have an “endowment” or “buy-in” program?

No, we do not. Some retirement communities and nursing facilities offer a program in which they may “buy-in” to stay there. All that simply means is that they pay an upfront fee for them to be sure that they remain in the continuum of care within that community. We offer a continuum of care to our residents at Heather Hills without paying an upfront fee to guarantee it. All of our residents have first priority when it comes to needing Home Care or coming to the Care Center. We also do not require an application to be filled out nor an application fee be provided.

What kind of rooms do you have at the Care Center and how large are they?

We offer both semi-private and private rooms at the Care Center. Our semi-private rooms accommodate no more than 2 residents at a time and our private rooms accommodate only 1 resident at a time. All of our rooms are very large and spacious (14 x 24 ft 2 in ) and include their own private bathroom.

Is your staff certified and what is the ratio of aides to residents?

All of our aides are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's) and our nursing staff are both licensed LPN's and RN's. All of our staff members at Heather Hills have had criminal background checks before they are hired and do not have a criminal history. Our aide to resident ratio is usually 1aide to every 4-5 residents. We always have 1 aide down every hall of the Care Center and 2-3 “floating” aides that help out wherever needed. However, we always keep the ratio in accordance with our census (if our census rises, we provide more aides and nurses to accommodate).
